Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup red food coloring

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix dry ingredients; beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla; combine well.
  • Add food coloring; mix until evenly colored. Roll out dough and cut into hearts.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes; cool before serving.
