Ingredients

Protein

  • 12 ounces salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)

Grains

  • 1 cup jasmine rice or medium-grain sushi rice

Dairy & Oils

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4-5 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauces & Condiments

  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Seasonings

  • Salt Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Optional toppings

  • N/A sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, avocado, nori (seaweed sheets) (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Cook rice according to package instructions; let rest and fluff.
  • Pat salmon dry, season with salt and pepper. Prepare garlic butter sauce by melting butter and whisking in garlic, soy, honey, and lemon.
  • Heat oil in skillet, sear salmon skin-side down for 4-5 minutes, flip, then baste with garlic butter. Cook until done.
  • Divide rice into bowls, top with salmon, drizzle with remaining garlic butter sauce, and add optional toppings.

Notes

Use fresh garlic for best flavor and adjust cooking time for desired doneness.
