A flavorful dish combining tender beef with a tangy sweet and sour sauce, served over rice for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped (any color)
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks, fresh or canned
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for serving Cooked rice

Instructions 

  • Whisk soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper to make the sauce.
  • Cook beef in oil until browned, then set aside.
  • Stir-fry onion and bell pepper until softened.
  • Add pineapple and beef back to skillet, pour sauce over, and stir.
  • Mix cornstarch with water, add to skillet, and cook until thickened.
  • Serve over cooked rice.

Notes

Adjust sauce ingredients to taste for sweetness or tanginess.
