Delight in these flavorful spiced pear bars with a buttery shortbread crust and a hint of warm spices, perfect for a cozy treat.

Dough

all purpose flour

Filling

diced fresh pear
(about 1/3" pieces, 2-3 medium pears)

lemon juice (optional)
(adds acidity and prevents browning)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square pan with parchment paper.
In a food processor, pulse flour, sugar, salt, spices, and ginger until combined. Add butter and vanilla, pulse until dough forms.
Press about 2/3 of the dough into the pan bottom. Mix remaining dough with walnuts and set aside.
Toss diced pears with lemon juice, spread over crust, then crumble remaining dough on top. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Cool before removing from pan. Slice and serve.
Notes
Chill the bars before slicing for cleaner cuts.
