Instructions
Brown the butter: melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisking until golden and nutty, then cool for 10 minutes.
Mix dry ingredients: whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Combine wet ingredients: whisk cooled brown butter, egg, sugar, and vanilla; then add milk.
Mix wet and dry: gently combine until batter forms; fold in optional mix-ins.
Cook pancakes: heat skillet with butter, pour 1/3 cup batter, cook 3-4 mins until bubbles form, flip and cook until golden.
Serve with extra brown butter, sea salt, and maple syrup.
Notes
