A delicious and hearty breakfast casserole combining fluffy pancakes and savory sausage.

Ingredients

Batter

  • 2 cups buttermilk pancake mix
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (bulk or links)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned; drain excess grease.
  • Mix pancake mix, milk, and eggs in a bowl until just combined.
  • Fold in half of the maple syrup and some sausage bits.
  • Pour half the batter into the dish, layer remaining sausage, then top with rest of the batter.
  • Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, add spices or cheese to the mixture.
