Ingredients

Dough

  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 180 ml warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Meat Topping

  • 0.5 lb ground beef or lean ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely minced
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup parsley, finely chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint (optional)

Vegetables for Serving

  • Sliced cucumbers cucumbers
  • Shredded lettuce lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes tomatoes
  • Chopped parsley parsley
  • Fresh lemon wedges lemon wedges

Instructions 

  • Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt; add water and oil, knead until smooth.
  • Let dough rest 30–45 minutes until puffy.
  • Combine meat, vegetables, spices, and oil; cook briefly or use raw.
  • Divide dough into small balls, roll into thin circles, spread meat mixture, and bake at 450°F (230°C) for 8–10 minutes.
  • Mix yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, oil, salt, and mint for sauce.
  • Serve warm lahmacun with yogurt sauce and fresh vegetables.

Notes

You can sauté the meat mixture for a softer texture or use it raw for a traditional taste.
