Ingredients

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (fresh or leftover)

Ground Beef

  • 1 cup ground beef

Onion

  • 1 small small onion, finely chopped

Garlic

  • 2 cloves cloves garlic, minced

Chili Powder

  • 1 tsp chili powder

Cumin

  • ½ tsp cumin

Salt and Pepper

All-purpose Flour

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Egg

  • 1 large large egg

Vegetable Oil

Optional Garnish

Instructions 

  • Sauté chopped onion in oil until translucent, then add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add ground beef with seasonings, cook until browned, then cool slightly.
  • Mix cooled mashed potatoes, cooked beef, flour, and egg until well combined.
  • Form mixture into balls, flatten into ½ inch thick patties.
  • Fry pancakes in hot oil until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Drain on paper towels, garnish with cilantro, and serve hot.

Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to achieve crispy pancakes.
