A hearty and easy-to-make dish combining ground beef, potatoes, and cheesy sauce, cooked effortlessly in the Instant Pot.

Ingredients

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground sausage)
  • 4 small potatoes potatoes (peeled and diced)
  • 1/3 cup onion (diced)
  • 1 small bell pepper (diced)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 cup milk (2% or whole)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 2 cup cheese (cheddar, shredded)

Instructions 

  • Set the Instant Pot to saute, cook ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic salt until browned. Drain excess grease.
  • Add diced potatoes to the beef mixture and toss.
  • Melt butter in a pan, whisk in flour, then gradually add milk, stirring until thickened. Add cheese and stir until melted.
  • Combine the beef and potato mixture with the cheese sauce.
  • Pour water into the Instant Pot, place a trivet, and set a baking dish with the mixture on top. Cook on high pressure for 15 minutes, then quick release.
  • Lift out, serve, and enjoy. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add a splash of cream or more cheese.
