These crispy Indian onion bhajis are a delightful snack, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 2 medium onions (sliced)

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp parsley (chopped or cilantro)
  • 3 tbsp oil (for frying, coconut recommended)

Instructions 

  • Slice the onions into thin strips and set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine all ingredients except oil and whisk into a medium-thick batter.
  • Mix in the sliced onion until fully coated in batter.
  • Heat oil in a skillet and drop small portions of the batter into the pan.
  • Cook for 2-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

Notes

Serve hot with chutney or yogurt for dipping!
