A flavorful and protein-packed twist on classic mac and cheese, featuring honey BBQ chicken and creamy cheeses.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 12 oz elbow macaroni

Cooked chicken breast

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded

Sauces and oils

  • 1 cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Dry ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Dairy and cheese

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Seasonings

  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Instructions 

  • Cook the pasta until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  • Mix shredded chicken with honey BBQ sauce.
  • Make a roux with olive oil and flour, then whisk in milk and cook until thickened. Stir in yogurt and cheeses, season with spices.
  • Combine pasta with cheese sauce, fold in BBQ chicken.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes. Rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Save pasta water to adjust sauce consistency if needed.
