Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook ground beef until browned, then drain excess fat.
Sauté chopped onion in the skillet with beef, then season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9×13-inch dish, season lightly, then spread beef mixture over.
Top with remaining potato slices. Mix milk and melted butter, pour over layers, then sprinkle cheese on top.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure potatoes are sliced thin for even cooking and melded flavors.
