A quick and flavorful seafood dish featuring succulent shrimp cooked in a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for a delicious meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled, deveined, with or without tails)
  • 2/3 cup butter (unsalted, cold)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (grated)
  • 1/2 lemon lemon (juice of half a lemon)
  • parsley parsley (finely chopped)
  • salt and pepper to taste salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne/chili powder (optional)

Instructions 

  • Pat dry the shrimp, season with 1/2 tsp salt, and let dry brine for 10 minutes.
  • Mince garlic and chop parsley.
  • Melt 1 tbsp butter with 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, infuse with thyme for 30 seconds.
  • Increase heat to medium high, cook shrimp until done, then set aside.
  • Lower heat, remove thyme, add 1 tbsp butter, sauté garlic for 30 seconds, add chili powder, lemon juice, and simmer for 1 minute.
  • Whisk in cold butter gradually to make sauce, then season with nutmeg, parsley, salt, and pepper.

Notes

Serve immediately with lemon wedges or over rice for a complete meal.
