Instructions 

  • Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla until smooth, then combine with dry ingredients.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels, dust with powdered sugar or roll in cinnamon sugar, and serve warm.

Notes

For a healthier option, try air frying the donuts instead of deep frying.
