Ingredients

dry ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons granulated white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • a pinch salt

wet ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons whole milk (or any milk/dairy-free milk)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or light olive oil/canola oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 square semi-sweet or dark chocolate piece or 2 tablespoons chocolate chips

Instructions 

  • Grease a microwave-safe coffee mug with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Mix dry ingredients in the mug, then add milk, oil, and vanilla. Stir until smooth and pourable.
  • Press the chocolate into the center of the batter without mixing it in.
  • Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds until edges are set and center is soft.
  • Let cool for 1 minute, then enjoy warm.
