Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the crust by mixing butter, sugar, vanilla, flour, and salt; press into a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes.
In a bowl, whisk together sugar, lemon zest, flour, and cream of tartar. Add eggs, egg yolks, and lemon juice; pour over the baked crust.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the filling is set. Cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing.
Notes
Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor. Let the bars cool completely before slicing for clean cuts.
