Soft, fluffy dinner rolls perfect for any meal, made with simple ingredients and easy steps.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup whole milk (warm, about 110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (or 1 packet)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg egg (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (to brush)

Instructions 

  • Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let sit 3-5 mins until bubbly.
  • Add melted butter, egg, salt, and half of the flour; mix well.
  • Gradually add remaining flour; knead for 3-5 mins until smooth.
  • Let dough rise covered for 2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down dough, shape into 12 balls, place in greased pan, and let rise 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F, bake rolls 20-25 mins, then brush with melted butter.

Notes

For softer rolls, brush with butter immediately after baking.
