Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top. Bake for 60-70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla or serve with fresh berries.
