A hearty and flavorful classic goulash perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

Meat and Vegetables

  • 2 pounds ground beef (85/15)
  • 2 yellow onions yellow onions, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 cups water
  • 29 ounces tomato sauce
  • 29 ounces diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni, uncooked

Instructions 

  • Add ground beef, onions, bell pepper, and garlic to a large pot and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Drain excess fat, then add water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, and salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Stir in uncooked macaroni, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the goulash sit for a few minutes before serving.
