A quick and flavorful Chinese-inspired stir-fry featuring tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 12 oz beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce (for color and richness)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions 

  • Marinate the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil for at least 10 minutes.
  • Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy, sugar, broth, and cornstarch to make the sauce.
  • Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 30 seconds, then rinse with cold water.
  • Cook beef in a hot wok with oil until browned, then set aside.
  • Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes; add broccoli and beef, then pour in sauce and cook until thickened.

Notes

Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
