Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon shawarma spice mix
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • 4 large pita breads

Garlic Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional toppings

  • chopped tomatoes
  • sliced cucumbers
  • shredded lettuce
  • pickled turnips

Instructions 

  • Combine chicken with olive oil, spices, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
  • Cook chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  • Whisk together mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to make garlic sauce.
  • Warm pita breads until soft. Spread garlic sauce on each.
  • Assemble wraps with chicken, toppings, and roll up. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken longer or add your favorite toppings.
