Ingredients

Protein

  • 1.5 lb Gelson’s jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • Freshly ground Gelson’s black pepper (to taste)
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 3 pieces charred lemons, divided
  • 1 tsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, grated
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek
  • 1 tsp grapeseed oil
  • 2 Tbsp minced green onion, plus more sliced, for garnish

Optional

  • cooked rice and your favorite vegetable (for serving)

Instructions

  • Pat shrimp dry, season with salt and pepper. Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat until golden and nutty, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add honey, juice of ½ charred lemon, soy sauce, garlic, and sambal oelek. Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Remove most sauce, sear half the shrimp until browned, then transfer to a plate. Repeat with remaining shrimp.
  • Add cooked shrimp back to pan with sauce and green onions. Cook until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes. Serve over rice and vegetables, garnished with sliced green onions and lemon halves.

Notes

For extra flavor, char the lemons well to enhance their smoky aroma.
