A flavorful and spicy Cajun shrimp pasta that's quick to prepare and perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 12 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.5 cup diced onion
  • 0.5 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 0.5 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions 

  • Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  • Season shrimp with Cajun spices, then sear in olive oil and butter until pink, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté onions and bell peppers until softened, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add chicken broth and heavy cream, then stir in Parmesan until smooth. Season as needed.
  • Combine cooked pasta with sauce, then add shrimp and toss to combine. Cook for 1–2 minutes to meld flavors.

Notes

For extra flavor, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the dish before serving.
