A flavorful Cajun shrimp dish with creamy sauce, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 1 lb uncooked shrimp (see notes)

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper diced red bell pepper

Liquids & Oils

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 0.75 cups heavy cream (can sub half and half)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 10 oz Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies (juice reserved)
  • 0.75 cup cheddar jack cheese (shredded)
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

Garnishes

  • to taste Lime Wedges
  • to taste Fresh Cilantro (roughly chopped)

Instructions 

  • Heat oil and cook diced bell pepper until tender.
  • Add garlic and Cajun seasoning, cook for 1 minute.
  • Stir in flour, then gradually add chicken broth and heavy cream, simmer until thickened.
  • Add shrimp, tomatoes, honey, hot sauce, and cheese; cook until shrimp are pink and sauce is creamy.
  • Finish with lime juice, garnish with cilantro, and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

Adjust spice levels to taste and serve with fresh lime wedges and cilantro for added flavor.
