A hearty and flavorful Central Asian beef plov, perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast or beef stew meat (cut into 2-inch chunks)
  • 2 diced onions
  • 4 julienned carrots

Oil

  • 1/2 cup canola oil

Rice

  • 3 cups Jasmine Rice (rinsed)

Water

  • 4 cups water

Garlic

  • 1 head garlic (sliced crosswise)
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp Lawrys Seasoned Salt
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika

Instructions 

  • Heat oil in a large pot and brown the beef chunks until browned on all sides.
  • Add diced onions and cook until translucent.
  • Add carrots, garlic, ground spices, and seasonings; cook for a few minutes.
  • Pour in water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until beef is tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Stir in rinsed rice, cover, and cook on low heat until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes.

Notes

Ensure rice is rinsed well to prevent clumping and absorb flavors better.
