A quick and flavorful stir-fry combining tender beef with crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 12 ounces broccoli florets
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated
  • 4 cloves garlic freshly minced or grated
  • 0.5 cup chicken stock
  • 6 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil toasted sesame oil is ideal
  • 1-2 teaspoons sriracha or similar hot sauce (more if spicier)
  • 0.5 tablespoon cornstarch (depending on sauce thickness)

Instructions 

  • Place the flank steak in the freezer for 30-60 minutes to firm up.
  • Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips and set aside.
  • Mix sauce ingredients: ginger, garlic, chicken stock, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, hot sauce, and cornstarch.
  • Cook the steak in hot oil until browned, then add broccoli and stir-fry until tender.
  • Pour in the sauce, cook until thickened, then serve over rice or pasta.

Notes

For extra flavor, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
