Ingredients

Apples

  • 4 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) (core the apples, leave bottom intact)
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats (not instant)
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar (for sweetness)
  • 0.25 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (the hero of this story)
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch salt (to balance sweetness)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Core apples, leaving bottoms intact.
  • Mix oats, sugar, nuts, cinnamon, melted butter, vanilla, and salt into crumble.
  • Stuff crumble into apples.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until tender and golden.
  • Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with a little more cinnamon before baking.
