Delight in these tender, flaky scones packed with fresh apple and warm cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (very cold)
  • 1 medium apple (roughly chopped or grated)
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream (very cold)
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (or 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar mixed with 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a food processor; pulse to mix.
  • Add cold butter, pulse until coarse crumbs form. Stream in cream until dough clumps.
  • Divide dough in half, flatten, add apples, fold to encase fruit, then shape into 1.5-inch thick discs.
  • Cut each disc into 6 wedges, place on baking sheet, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, and bake for 18-22 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter before sprinkling cinnamon sugar.
